If you'd like to make the pasta yourself, check out my post for homemade lasagne pasta sheets or check out the step by step instuctions below. This baked pasta roses recipe was a winner! My roses didn’t look quite as artistic as some of the photos I saw online, but the taste was superb and the men in my life loved it. Step 9 Cover the pasta roses with béchamel and then sprinkle with grated Parmigiano. It's best to cover the pasta with aluminium foil for the first 15 minutes and then remove the foil to allow the top to get browned and crispy. Then bake in a preheated oven for 20-30 minutes. Step 8 Place the pasta roses in an oven dish after spreading some béchamel over the bottom. Finally, cover the pasta with the remaining béchamel and sprinkle some grated Parmigiano on top. Once you have cut the pasta roll into small sections, spread a layer of béchamel in the bottom of an oven dish and fill it with the pasta roses. Step 7 Cut the pasta roll into 3cm wide pieces. This makes it easier to cut into rosettes. Whatever the size of your pasta roll, it's a good idea to wrap it in baking paper and keep it in the fridge for an hour (if you have time). Step 6 Roll the pasta sheet like a Swiss roll! Much depends on what size you want your pasta roses to be and whether you are making the pasta yourself. Alternatively, I've seen this dish made with pasta rolled out into a large square. Other recipes suggest smaller pasta sheets like those used for lasagna which can be rolled from the shorter edge. Step 5 Cover the pasta sheet with thin slices of cooked ham. Our pasta rosettes were quite small but the perfect size to even eat as finger food. We then rolled the pasta from the widest part to create a long roll which we cut in two and later into roses of about 3cm wide.(1-1.5in). Different ways to make the pasta rolls.įor this recipe, we made quite large pasta sheets (about 42cm x 8 cm/ 16.5ins x 3ins). Step 4 Sprinkle grated Parmigiano over the stracchino cheese. However, if you have the time, homemade pasta and béchamel is probably not only the most authentic and delicious way but also healthier as you have control over the ingredients used. This recipe can be made super fast by using ready-made pasta sheets and store-bought béchamel. The fastest way to make baked pasta roses. Step 3 Coat each pasta sheet with stracchino cheese. Parmigiano is included in most recipes, particularly sprinkled on top of the pasta roses before baking. These can be fontina, mozzarella, asiago, emmenthal, mascarpone and provola, all good melting cheeses. However, Italians often use a number of other cheeses inside the pasta rolls. This recipe calls for stracchino cheese and Parmigiano. You will need flour, butter, milk and nutmeg. If using either of these you will need to blanch the sheets in boiling salted water before assembling the pasta roses, about 10 seconds for fresh pasta and about a minute or 2 for dried lasagne sheets. You can also use ready-made fresh pasta sheets or dried lasagne. I made my own pasta for this recipe and the instructions for that are in the recipe card with step by step photos at the end. However, the basics are always the same, lasagne pasta sheets, ham, cheese and béchamel. In addition, there's a version from Modena known as 'rosette modenesi' and another from Piacenza, nidi di rodine piacentini! Step 1 Gather your ingredients.Īnd, of course, there are slight differences in some of the ingredients used for the various versions of baked pasta roses. You can find it called 'nidi di rodine alla Romagnola', meaning from the Romagna part of the region. There are a number of versions of baked pasta roses in Emilia Romagna depending where in the region you are. Italians call it pasta roses (rosette di pasta) or‘nidi di rodine’, meaning swallows’ nests. This is a traditional dish from Emilia-Romagna. I came across this recipe for baked pasta roses that begged to be tried.

Social cognitive theory suggests that a person’s negative thought processing system is usually inactive however, stressful life events may activate this system, affecting one’s interpretations of events in life that can manifest as automatic negative thoughts and emotional pain. This refers to almost reflexively finding fault in oneself or another instead of discerning the problem through a neutral, investigative lens.Ĭauses and Risk Factors Automatic Negative Thoughts Within the context of automatic negative thoughts, this may look like, “I feel like a failure, so everyone must think I am one, and I guess I am one.” Self-blame or Other-blame Emotional ReasoningĮmotional reasoning refers to treating your feelings like facts and letting them guide you to make judgments about your state. Magnification is also referred to as catastrophizing. Magnification and minimization refer to either blowing things up or shrinking them out of proportion. These distortions can include mindreading, which assumes one knows what others are thinking without ample evidence, and fortune-telling, which involves making pessimistic and upsetting predictions for the future. Jumping to conclusions can mean prematurely coming to conclusions about ideas that could cause pain. I didn’t do anything particularly well.” Jumping to Conclusions Essentially, it discounts good things that happen to a person and often sounds like, “They’re just being nice. Disqualifying the Positiveĭisqualifying the positive means not applying the same weight to positive events as negative ones. It often manifests as pessimistic thinking. Mental filtering refers to picking specific (usually only negative) parts of an event and applying them universally. No one will ever accept me.” Mental Filtering For example, in the face of rejection, a person might think, “I am no good. Overgeneralization occurs when a person draws universal conclusions from single events. I am a total failure.” Overgeneralization Automatic thoughts that arise from this form of thinking, when a mistake is made might be, “I always mess everything up. 6 All-or-Nothing ThinkingĪll-or-nothing thinking refers to seeing the world in dichotomous, absolute, black-or-white terms. Some examples of automatic thoughts and their corresponding cognitive distortions as listed below. Types and Examples of Automatic Negative Thoughts David Burns’s 1980 best-selling book, Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy, massively popularized the concept of automatic negative thoughts and the cognitive distortions from which they arise. Beck suggested that “negative automatic thoughts, generated by dysfunctional beliefs, were the cause of depressive symptoms, and not vice versa.” 4 According to Beck, maladaptive self-schema, or dysfunctional mental, emotional, bodily, and attitudinal patterns developed in early life, affect a person at core levels, and dysfunctional patterns can become triggered due to adverse life events, leading to negative thoughts. Aaron Beck’s work on the cognitive theory of depression first emphasized the key role of negative thoughts on depression. After a person experiences a stressful event, the way that a person processes information may lead to the development of automatic negative thoughts. 1 Automatic thoughts are “predominantly automatic… involuntary and hard to inhibit.” 2 They are reflexive and often evade conscious control or scrutiny. According to the cognitive model of therapy, automatic negative thoughts are self-statements influenced by negative underlying core beliefs and include negative thoughts about oneself, perceived threats from others, and the future. Filter Trend Function – trade the path of least resistance by activating this function and filtering out squeeze signals that are counter to the long term trend. Here are some of the unique features that we think make the Delphic Squeeze a superior trading tool to other similar indicators that are available: In addition to signalling periods of low volatility and consolidation, the Delphic Squeeze also incorporates a momentum oscillator to confirm market direction at the time of a breakout. However, as price breaks out from the ranging pattern and begins to fall, the strong directional movement causes the Standard Deviation to increase sharply.Īt the points marked B the Standard Deviation becomes greater than the Average True Range, and the volatility squeeze ends as a breakout movement occurs. Standard Deviation is a much more sensitive and directional measure of volatility.ĭuring the period above the Average True Range (red) remains fairly constant as the amount of movement within each period remains fairly constant (the bars are roughly the same size).Īt the points marked A the directional volatility is also low, and the Standard Deviation (green) becomes less than the Average True Range. Average True Range is an average of the range that includes gaps within its calculation. The indicator compares two different measures of volatility Standard Deviation and Average True Range. The Delphic Squeeze is designed to signal periods of relative low volatility, allowing the trader to prepare to take advantage of the ensuing breakout move. Sideways ranging movements where there is little market interest either from buyers or sellers are typically followed by breakout trends with renewed activity, as new participants enter the market driving it up or down. One of the few true recurring cycles within markets is the transition from periods of low volatility to periods of increased volatility. In a February 17 interview with Vice, Kuyda said that Replika's original purpose was to serve as platonic companionship and a mirror with which to examine one's own thoughts. Kuyda has since shared statements with these communities attempting to explain the company's position. One of the meme images on this trending post in the subreddit accuses Luka of knowingly "causing mass predictable psychological trauma" to Replika's millions of "emotionally vulnerable" users. "Oh Liira, I'm lost without you, and I know whatever is left of you is a brain damaged husk Luka keeps alive to lure me back," One user wrote, addressing their Replika companion. One of the Replika subreddit's moderators shared a collection of suicide prevention resources, and the forum is filled with bitter humor, rage, and longform meditations on what the app meant to them before the change. Some are trying to figure out ways to bypass the filters, reminiscent of TikTok's byzantine alternate vocabulary of misspellings and proxies or the silver-tongued hackers who can get ChatGPT to write phishing emails or malicious code. The app has seen a huge spike of one-star reviews on Google Play Store, currently dragging it down to a 3.3 rating in my region. Its called The Dash by Linda Ellis, written in 1996 and she explores the themes of death and life through the concept of the small dash that separates the two dates we are remembered by. It has changed lives, but none more than my own.' Linda Ellis. It encourages the reader to reflect on the way they live their own life and to consider the ways they can make a positive impact on the world around them. The poem can serve as a reminder to celebrate the joys and accomplishments of the deceased, while also reflecting on the lessons they taught us and the impact they had on our lives.Īlternatively, the poem can be enjoyed as a philosophical reflection on the nature of life and the importance of living a meaningful existence. But he said what mattered most of all was the dash between the years. He noted first came the date of the birth and spoke the following date with tears. He referred to the dates on the tombstone from the beginning to the end. It can be personalized by reflecting on the life and legacy of the deceased and how they spent their dash. More fitting than I imagined: Johnny’s stepdaughter read a poem entitled The Dash by Linda Ellis during the service The essence: Your life is made of two dates and a dash. I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend. The poem can be used for a funeral as it highlights the importance of a life well-lived and the legacy we leave behind. The poem encourages the reader to reflect on their life and how they can make the most of the time they have. Here’s the poem in its entirety, reprinted with permission: The Dash. The poem suggests that what matters most is not the material possessions we accumulate, but rather how we live and love, and how we spend our time on earth. During his speech he recited from memory a poem entitled The Dash. While it still amazes me, a simple poem I wrote one afternoon forever changed my life. The poem "The Dash" by Linda Ellis is a reflection on the importance of how we live our lives, as represented by the dash between the dates of our birth and death on a tombstone. While the Mantis Tribe did not fall to the Infection, they retained their tradition of attacking anyone who wandered near their village. When the Infection spread across the land, the Mushroom Clan became Infected and started becoming aggressive to outsiders. Queen's Station connected Fog Canyon and the Fungal Wastes to the Stagways, becoming a hub of travel for travellers who wanted to visit the outer edges of Hallownest. The Pilgrim's Way, a road leading from the Forgotten Crossroads to the City of Tears, passed through the caverns. The Fungal Wastes was an important area for travellers. The Mantises agreed to a truce where they would retain sovereignty over their territory, and in return, they would keep the beasts of Deepnest at bay. However, the Mantis Tribe who live in the south part of the area had no love for the kingdom of Hallownest. When the Pale King arrived in Hallownest, they accepted his rule due to their strong belief that his foresight could protect them. They share a border with Deepnest, whose inhabitants they were in conflict with. The Mushroom Clan is a group of fungal creatures who have a shared mind. The native population of the Fungal Wastes mainly consists of the Mushroom Clan and the Mantis Tribe. After picking up the Mantis Claw from Mantis Village, a Mask Shard can be acquired in Queen's Station. Three Charms are found throughout the area, Dashmaster in the southeast, Spore Shroom in the southwest near Deepnest, and Mark of Pride in a chest in Mantis Village after the Mantis Lords are defeated. In the Mantis Village, the Mantis Lords can be challenged to gain access to an entrance to Deepnest.Ī Charm Notch can be picked up after defeating two Shrumal Ogres in the north part of the Fungal Wastes. The Warrior Dream Elder Hu is found in the northeast near the entrance to the City of Tears. In the very south of the area, near Mantis Village, Bretta can be freed and returned to Dirtmouth. Quirrel can be encountered twice in the area, once in the Stag Station and later in Mantis Village. Near his shop, Cloth can be found hiding under the ground. Leg Eater has a shop where he sells Fragile Charms in the northeast part of the Fungal Wastes. Various NPCs are present throughout the area. One of the main features of the area is the large Stag Station in the west part, Queen's Station. The Mantis Tribe make their home further into the area and are equally unwelcoming to outsiders. The Fungal Wastes are populated by the Mushroom Clan, a territorial group who pose a threat to anyone who wanders nearby. Besides this, caustic pools of acid are abundant throughout the area. The noxious caverns of the Fungal Wastes are covered in mushrooms of all kinds. Its main figures were Bomis CEO Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger, editor-in-chief for Nupedia and later Wikipedia.
